The system should be assessed to ensure that confirm that it cannot be replaced or upgraded, and as such, receive a policy exception to permit continued operation of the off-support operating system. It also provides added benefits such as Home Use & multiple personal devices support.If the Windows 7 machine is required to support specialist equipment with specific compatibility requirements and cannot be replaced or upgraded, it is the responsibility of the computer owner to ensure a replacement antivirus solution is installed. Antivirus software with ongoing updates and support is required, although most anti-virus vendors have ceased supporting Windows 7 or are planning to end soon.

This can be done via the Microsoft Software License Request form. Faculty and staff should contact the ITS Service Desk to install and configure Sophos Central Endpoint Protection or Jamf Protect on their campus computer. If the hardware is determined to be suitable, you will need to purchase a license for the new operating system. If you are familiar with your firewall yourself and have an Enhanced Support (SFOS) or Premium Support (UTM) license, you can of course contact Sophos.
